Shadow chancellor John McDonnell says Labour "would tax differently" but would not increase the higher tax band thresholds as it would hit middle income earners.
Speaking on the Today programme in the wake of the Autumn Statement, Mr McDonnell also said he would restore the 50p tax rate for those earning more than £150,000.
